ben says...
"You can call it a Spirit Quest, or just through-hiking. Crocodile Dundee called it a "walkabout." Whatever it is, I'm walking 400 miles of coastline from Santa Cruz, California to Los Angeles. When strangers along the way ask me why I started walking, I tell them "there was nothing good on TV." If I'm being honest, I needed some time to think. I've also been obsessed with the absence in our culture of a ritual to initiate a boy into manhood. Somewhat subconsciously, I created my own."
you may be thinking, 'Ben is nuts.'
But we love him anyways. He's walking 400 miles with nothing but water, peanut butter, jerky, and a good book (Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass), all in the name of self discovery. He started off with a plan, but we all know how that goes. Now he's got $12, a rumbly belly, and a book he's already read.
